Council members had a meeting on Tuesday night to put a plan in place going forward bearing in mind Government restrictions already announced and possible future restrictions.
We agreed that we would try and keep the Clubhouse open as long as we could, provided we had sufficient staff, and that there was no legislation in place ordering us to close.
The reason for this was to enable members to play the new seasons competitions due to start this coming Saturday. Various precautions were to be put in place to hopefully protect members health at this time.
Unfortunately Edinburgh Leisure have today announced that they will be closing all of their sports facilities, including their Golf Courses, from today, Thursday 19th March at 4.15pm.
There is little point in having the Clubhouse open with all the current risks and it is likely that the decision will be made for us to close.
Accordingly I am sorry to advise that although the Clubhouse will be open for the remainder of this week, we will close on Sunday at 7.00pm for the foreseeable future. If you are considering visiting the Club at some point before we close please do not do so it you are feeling unwell or have a cough or fever. Please ensure that you wash your hands where it is appropriate to do so. Hand gel is available in the Bar and this should be used to protect your and your fellow members.
Obviously if circumstances change we will review the situation. Updates, where appropriate, will be advised by Email and on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
On behalf of myself and the Council I hope you stay all well at this difficult time and hope to see you in the Clubhouse and on the Golf Course as soon as possible.
