George Alexander - XOS Scottish Golf Volunteer of the Year Award Nominee
We were delighted that Club Captain George Alexander was short-listed as one of the five nominees for this award, presented at the XOS Scottish Golf Awards event in Glasgow on 18 February. This was very richly deserved recognition for the contribution that George has made over 30 years in his role as Match Secretary - handling all of the fixtures, draws, results, prizes, etc. for our many events, and organising and motivating our teams in what has been the most successful period in the club's history. (The award was won by Frank Anderson of Palacerigg GC for revitalising their Junior section).

Fixtures and Results
The fixtures for 2011 have been updated, and the winners of the 2010 competitions are listed in the detailed Results page for each month.

Scottish Club Champions!!!
Carrickvale Golf Club are the 2010 Scottish Club Champions – winning by three shots at Fortrose and Rosemarkie on 25th and 26th September. A truly magnificent achievement. Our three-man team of Craig Elliott, David Ewen and Allyn Dick are the first winners of the event from the Lothians. They now go on to represent Scotland in the European Club Championship at Estela Golf Club, Portugal from 21 - 23 October. The generous support of the team from www.lookgoodgolfing.com is appreciated, and we wish the team even more success in this fantastic year!

Lothians Club Champions!
Our first ever win in the Lothians Team Tournament was recorded at West Lothian and Linlithgow golf clubs on 24th July. The four-man team of Allyn Dick, David Ewen, Michael Kanev and Craig Elliott won by the narrowest of margins (a count-back over Pumpherston), and now go on to represent the Lothians in the Scottish Club Championships in September.

International Cap for Allyn Dick!!
It gives great pleasure to congratulate Allyn Dick, as his exceptional golfing ability was recognised with his first cap for Scotland in the Home Internationals played at Ashburnham in Wales from 11th to 13th August. He performed extremely well (recording 41/2 points out of a possible 6), and winning his three foursomes matches when partnering James Byrne. It’s with even greater pleasure that we can now report his elevation to Scotland’s Men’s Elite Squad by the Scottish Golf Union – a richly-deserved reward.

David Ewen - World Deaf Golf Champion
On 16 August David Ewen became the World Deaf Golf Champion, winning by ten strokes at Fairmont St. Andrews over a field of 77 players from all over the world. His outstanding score helped Scotland to win the team championship by four shots - with Australia in second place and England a further eight shots behind in third place.
